TRAVELING BASKETBALL REGISTRATION IS OPEN

Girls and Boys in grades 3-8 should be signed up prior to tryouts, which are scheduled for Sunday, August 6th and August 13th at the Wildcat Community Center. On these dates we will have a table set up with uniforms to try on for sizing.  Based on numbers, players should attend both dates listed if possible. Grades 3 and 4 will go from 5-6pm, grades 5 and 6 will go from 6-7:15 PM, and grade 7 & 8 will go from 7:15-8:30 PM. Grades are based on the 23-24 school year.

Traveling Uniforms

Uniforms are included for 3rd grade players with their registration fee.  4th - 8th graders can still use their old travel uniforms, if they still fit.  If you are new to travel basketball, or if you need new uniforms for the upcoming season, the complete cost will be $87, and you can also order shorts, jerseys and warm up tops individually, and you can order them during this registration.

This registration session will allow you to complete contact information, sign up for participation, and submit payment. Please read through each page carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately. To complete registration through our secure site, please have your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or checking account information available.  Following the completion of this registration, you will see a charge on your account from Lakes Area Recreation Association.

FAQ

Q.) Why does LARA "cut" players in 7th & 8th but not in 4th - 6th?

A.) LARA believes it is important that every kid that wants to play basketball has the opportunity and there is no alternative in the younger grades outside of "traveling".  Once kids reach 7th & 8th grade they have the option to play "school ball".

Q.) $400.00+ seems like a lot of money to play basketball and more than years past.

A.) LARA believes it is important to keep costs as low as possible.  We do not "make" money on registrations.  Any money that LARA makes generally comes from fundraisers and tournaments.  Basketball orders uniforms every 2 years.  Last year, the cost with uniforms was $475.00.  This year if your child does not need a uniform the cost will be $400 if they do need a uniform the cost will be $475.  LARA does have a "payment plan" allowing you to make 3 payments so you do not have to pay the $400 or $475 at once.  LARA also has a scholarship program for all sports.

Q.) What are the next steps I need to take as a parent after registration and or tryouts?

A.) Teams will be posted on the website with an email sent out stating this.  After that you will be contacted by either Pete Leadholm (boys), Amanda Farrell (girls) or your child's coach with further instructions.
