Lakes Area Recreation Association In-House Basketball
NEW FORMAT for 2011-2012
Due to popular demand, we are modifying our format for this years LARA program. We will still offer valuable instructional sessions as we have in the past, but we are adding some organized teams/games to the sessions.
Prior to the start of the sessions, we will split the children into teams according to age/gender. To make this work, we will need parent volunteers to direct each team.
The varsity/JV staff and players will be directing the drills but we will need parent coaches to assist as well.
Please indicate your willingness to help when signing up.
The Saturday morning sessions will include:
45 Minutes of group led instruction where fundamentals are taught to all participants.
30 Minutes of 5 on 5 basketball.
All Boys and Girls K through 6th Grade are eligible to participate.
For those who are interested in additional competition against other area schools. LARA is offering an option for 3rd and 4th graders to compete in the Forest Lake League. See the information below.
Our program’s success depends largely on the guidance and support of parents, especially those willing to volunteer as coaches.

FEES & Play Schedule
$35.00: Kindergarten, First and Second Graders - includes a LARA basketball shirt with play beginning in early January on Saturday Mornings.
$45.00: Third through Sixth Graders - includes a LARA basketball shirt with play beginning in early December on Saturday mornings.
PLAYERS WILL NOT BE CONTACTED BY A COACH, PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE. JUST SHOW UP READY TO PLAY AND HAVE FUN!

OPTIONAL LEAGUE OPPORTUNITY ON MONDAY AND THURDAY NIGHTS.
2011-2012 LEAGUE PLAY against other schools in the Forest Lake School District for 3RD & 4TH GRADE ONLY. $75.00
Monday nights (4th graders) and Thursday nights (3rd graders).
Registrations are limited. Games will be played at area Forest Lake Elementary schools.
November 4th registration deadline.
Games will be held at various Forest Lake Elementary Schools - Starting the week of December 12th.
In addition to the Forest Lake League, there will be two Saturdays where the 4th grade teams will travel to another school to play a 3 game day long tournament. The tournament cost is included in the fee.
