Who is LARA?

The Lakes Area Recreation Association (LARA) provides the opportunity for school-age Chisago Lakes-Area children to experience affordable, supervised sports activities. LARA is a volunteer, nonprofit organization and is not formally affiliated with the Chisago Lakes School District, but cooperates with and encourages participation by the District. More than 1,800 lakes-area youth participate in LARA sports every year.

Coaching Opportunities

All LARA coaches are volunteers. LARA provides administrative support, including game scheduling. Coaches are always needed and appreciated. Sports knowledge is not a prerequisite; LARA will provide the necessary training. All we ask is that our volunteer coaches enjoy sharing time with young people and teach the principles of fair play and honorable competition.

Sports Seasons

Beginning in late spring, LARA baseball and softball programs get underway and are active through mid-summer. LARA soccer kicks off in mid-summer and ends in early September; flag football and volleyball, for grades 3-6, takes place in the fall and basketball, for grades K-6, runs during the winter months. Effective immediately, LARA will be accepting On-Line registrations only.

The growth of our community has spread to our youth programs. Our volunteers can not keep up with the overwhelming task of manually handling mail and in-person registrations. Thank you for your understanding.

2009 Soccer Registration is Closed.
Teams are being created. Please look under Teams/Groups to see what team you have been placed on. Teams are not final until all player have been placed on a team. You may be moved from one team to another as the placement process proceeds. Please look back frequently.

Attention On-Line Registration users: If you get an error message during registration saying that your child already exists, it is because you have previously registered your child using a different e-mail account or the same e-mail account with a different password. Our system does not allow the same child to be registered under multiple accounts. Try using the "forgot password" feature to get your original password sent to you. If this does not work, e-mail dcarlson44@frontiernet.net to have your origional account deleted or password reset.

The next LARA Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7th, 2009, 8:00 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City. If you would like to be placed on the agenda, please e-mail us at lakesarearec@frontier.net with your contact information and a brief description of the topic you wish to discuss. The submission deadline for the meeting is 1 week prior.
